I’m itching I tell ya

I’m itching to get feedback from those that are reading my proof copies so I can incorporate their feedback into the final version. The anticipation is killing me. And now I’ve gotta worry about a book release party as suggested by a person I know. It’s interesting, a lot of promotion from self-publishers are done online, with many writing on blogs, facebook posts, twitter tweets and the like. Some, like Mark Dawson have zeroed in on Facebook ads. If you are like me after a while being on a computer makes my eyes buggy and my head hurt. I’ve always been that way and I haven’t found a solution. It doesn’t matter if I’m making a short video, editing my book, posting on facebook. I still seem to get those headaches.

My solution has been to take frequent breaks and get off those darn computer screens for a while. Then I can restart again. And that’s where I like the idea of a book release party even better. Straight people-to-people contact. Not as much leverage as straight online, but you never know where it can lead.

Mark Dawson relates there are 3.5 millions books for sale on Amazon, and he asks how do you pull through that clutter and get your book known? That my friend, is the trick. And something I’ll be digging into more and more as I go along. One step at a time. It’s amazing how much work it takes to write a book or two or three. I’d done some math and I calculate I’ve got one-and-a-half to two PhD’s worth of time into those. Yikes! And I’ve started a trilogy+One. Where am I going to find the time to market? I guess I’m going to have to find the time. Thanks for listening.
