I’m almost there. I’ve spent gobs and gobs of time editing my paperback proof copy. Each time I think I’ve reached the holy grail of no more edits needed, I find another one. Frustrating as this has been, I plunge forward. There isn’t any other way. I’ve got to find those errors!
But will I absolutely find 100% of them? I like to think so, but in reality I don’t know, there always seems to be one that sneaks through. So I have a plan. It will reduce my anxieties, and besides, it’ll be fun. I’ll tell you more about this later, first I gotta get back to those edits.
If you notice the picture above you’ll see my sweatshirt reads, INTERNATIONAL AUTHOR. Why yes I am. You see, the first ebook I sold went to someone from Britain. BUT, about a week later that one got returned. Poop. Amazon has a two week return policy and the more I researched it I found out that some people will buy a book, read it, and then return it. Others simply click on wrong book to purchase and then realize their error. Whatever the reason (I hope it wasn’t that the person didn’t like my book), it’s all good. That’s part of the process.
It did, however, take me from being an International Author to just an author. My bragging rights disappeared. Until recently. I decided to check my Goodreads account and punch in my name. It’s there that I saw it, a rating. 4 starts out of 5. Yippee! And the person who rated it hailed from Denmark. He apparently purchased my book way back in June. And didn’t return it. So now, I’m back to being an INTERNATIONAL AUTHOR. I’m on my way!
But I can’t get too filled with myself. The show must go on. Forward march. Christmas is around the corner and I’ve been getting asked by those around me if I’ll have my paperback version out by Christmas. I’m working as hard as I can to make that a reality. I think I can, I think I can …
I don’t know where all this will take me, but I am ready to find out. Well Happy Holidays!
